Ministries

The Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church-Christian Complex operates under the five functions of the Church found in Acts 2:41-47;1st Corinthians 11:2; Philippians 1:27. These functions are Membership, Maturity, Missions, Magnify, , and Ministry. We offer a wide arrange of opportunities for disciples to grow and go for Christ. One of the best ways disciples to enhance their experience at Mount Zion and the body of Christ is by becoming involved in Ministry. MEMBERSHIP TEAM

CALENDAR GROUP MINISTRY

This ministry is designed to provide spiritual support for the entire membership. Calendar Groups are led by assigned Deacons, Deaconess, to serve the congregations spiritual needs including prayer, bereavement counseling, encouragement and spiritual guidance and support. Every disciple of Mount Zion is placed in a group based upon their birth month.

HIGH DIMENSION CHILDREN & YOUTH MINISTRY

This ministry is designed to lead children and youth (Kindergarten to 12th Grade) to a personal knowledge and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, while empowering and equipping them socially, intellectually, physically, emotionally, and culturally.

Meeting Times: Monday Nights (6:30 – 8:30pm)

MOACT MINISTRY (MEN OF ACTION MINISTRY)

This ministry is for men 18 years and older, focuses on the development of the total man. Our goal is to empower men, spiritually, economically, physically, intellectually, and socially for service to God and the community.

Meeting Times: 3rd Saturdays (9:00 am)

OPEN HEARTS MINISTRY

This ministry is for our mature saints (ages 55 years or older). This seeks to ministry provide direction and support for the spiritual, social, economic, and cultural wellbeing our more mature saints.

Meeting Times: Thursdays (10:00 am)

DWOC MINSITRY (DEDICATED WOMEN OF CHRIST MINISTRY)

This ministry is designed for women 18 years and older, and focuses on the development of the total woman. The goal of this ministry is to empower women, spiritually, economically, physically, intellectually, and socially for service to God and the community.

Meeting Times: 3rd Fridays (6:30 pm)

 

MATURITY TEAM

ADULT BIBLE STUDY

This ministry designed to help educate and edify the adults in ways that will assist them to grow spiritually, and to find wholeness through their relationship with Our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ. These classes are taught by our Senior Pastor and Assistant Pastor.

Meeting Times: Wednesdays (12pm & 7pm)

CHAT ROOM (YOUTH BIBLE STUDY)

This ministry is designed to help educate and edify children & youth (6 -18yrs) in ways that will assist them to grow spiritually, and to find wholeness through their relationship with Our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.

Meeting Times: Mondays (6:30 pm)

CHRISTIAN STUDY INSTITUTE MINISTRY (C.S.I.)

The purpose of this ministry is to provide an ongoing holistic educational ministry which will equip the congregation for spiritual growth and maturity. This ministry provided multiple opportunities for disciples and non-members to mature in the faith though a wide-variety of class topics.

Meeting Times: Mondays & Thursdays (7:00pm) when in Session.

CHURCH SCHOOL

This Ministry consists of several classes design to promote, stimulate and educate our disciples for the cause of Christ and the promotion and advancement of the Kingdom of God. There are classes offered for men, women and youth every Sunday at 8:30 am. Members interested in teaching should contact Reverend Roy Williams.

NEW MEMBERS MINISTRY

This Ministry provides new members and opportunity to commit themselves to Christ through salvation, re-dedication, membership, and prayer. All New Members are encouraged to attend an orientation session, in an effort to introduce and orientate new members to Mount Zion, its vision, mission, leadership and ministries.

Meeting Times: 3rd Saturdays (10:00 am)

SCHOLARSHIP MINISTRY

The Scholarship Ministry’s primary mission is to provide academic and financial support to those members seeking to enhance their post high school education. Students are encouraged to further their education via tutoring, counseling, and by providing financial support. Finances for the ministry are derived from member donations, and other financial streams.

MISSION TEAM

ANGEL TREE MINISTRY

This ministry in conjunction with Angel Tree reaches out to children of incarcerated parents in our community by providing them with Christmas gifts, given in love on behalf of their incarcerated parent.

FOOD PANTRY MINSITRY

The food pantry is an outreach ministry whose goal is to provide nutritional food to persons in need. This ministry is supported by individual donations from members of Mount Zion, and also from others in our community who are aware of our efforts in this regard.

MISSION MINISTRY

This purpose of this ministry is to develop persons who understand that Christians have an important service to perform on behalf of all humanity, while ministering and meeting the needs of the least of these by showing them the love of Christ in our acts of kindness.

Meeting Times: 1st Saturdays (12pm)

SOCIAL SERVICE MINISTRY

This Ministry endeavors to provide access to comprehensive social services for those in economic, domestic, educational, physical, and social crisis. We seek to enable people in need within Mount Zion and the community to more fully support and nurture themselves and their families.

TOYS FOR TOTS

This Ministry in partnership with the US Marine Corps distributes donated toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community with a message of hope in Jesus Christ.

MAGNIFY TEAM

ADULT WOMEN PRAISE DANCE

This ministry is for all women 18 and older. The ministry is designed to provide an opportunity to worship and praise our Lord and Savior through dance. Every member must attend 3 practices, 1 engagement, before being added to the dance roster.

Meeting Time: Tuesdays (6:30 pm) – based on performance schedule

AUDIO/VISUAL MINISTRY

This ministry is designed to ensure that the audio and visual needs for worship services, programs, and events is properly executed as well providing reproduction of media items for sale. The goal of this ministry is to create a multi-sensory worship experience that draws worshippers closer to God.

LITURGICAL YOUTH PRAISE DANCE

This ministry is for youth 18 and younger. The ministry is designed to provide an opportunity to worship and praise our Lord and Savior through dance. Every member must attend 3 practices, 1 engagement, before being added to the dance roster.

L.Y.R.I.C. POETRY MINISTRY

The L.Y.R.I.C. (Liberating Yourself Rhythmically in Christ) ministry of Mount Zion Baptist Church seeks to use our God given gifts and talents to spread the word of God. We combine the realness of our testimonies, our gifting and God's own guiding hand to speak and bring forth poetically what the Lord will have us to minister.

MASS CHOIR

This ministry is open to active members of any Mount Zion Choir with a willingness to sing. The goal of this ministry is to present excellence in song that would prepare the congregation for the preached word of God.

MALE CHORUS

This ministry is for all males 13 and up who desire to sing for the Lord. The goal of this ministry is to present excellence in song that would prepare the congregation for the preached word of God. Every member must attend 3 practices, 1 engagement, before becoming an official member.

Meeting Time: Thursdays (7:30 pm)

MEMORIAL CHOIR

This ministry is open all ages. The ministry is designed to comfort (through song) families during home going Celebrations. The genres of music for this choir are anthems, classical gospel, hymns, and spirituals.

PRAISE & WORSHIP TEAM

This ministry is open to skilled singers and musicians. Participants should have a fundamental understanding of Praise and Worship as it relates to music. The goal of this ministry is to effectively usher in the very presence of God. It also promotes growth and maturity in spiritual matter and in functioning as a worship leader. Every member must attend 3 practices, 1 engagement, before being added to the roster.

PSALM 66

This ministry is open to adults (18yrs and older). The ministry is designed to prepare (through song) the congregation for the preached word of God. The genres of music for this choir are anthems, classical gospel, hymns, and spirituals.

RADICAL MIME MINISTRY

The goal of the mime ministry is to train members to use mime and dance as a form of worship and praise and as a vehicle to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To participate in this ministry one should have self -discipline, rhythm, and the ability to move freely in front of an audience. Every member must attend 3 practices, 1 engagement, before being added to the mime roster.

SALT FACTORY (CHILDREN’S CHURCH)

Is a ministry designed to provide children (Kindergarten-6th grade) a hands-on worship experience that encourages them to live for God through age-appropriate teach, preaching, and activities.

Meeting Time: Every 4th Sunday in the J.M. Baker Family Life Center

SANCTUARY CHOIR

This ministry is open to adults (18yrs and older). The ministry is designed to prepare (through song) the congregation for the preached word of God. The style of music for this choir is traditional gospel music. Every member must attend 3 practices, 1 engagement, before being added to the roster.

Meeting Time: Tuesdays (7:30 pm)

TEEN TEMPLE (YOUTH CHURCH)

Youth Church is a ministry designed to provide teens (7th – 12th grade) a stimulating worship experience that encourages them to live for God through their lifestyle.

Meeting Time: Every 5th Sunday in the J.M. Baker Family Life Center

USHERS MINISTRY

This ministry is designed for the congregation of Mount Zion Baptist Church. This ministry is divided into two components (Youth & Adult Ushers). The goal(s) of this ministry is to attend to the needs of the worshiping congregation. Participants should be members who are willing to serve God’s people with a spirit of hospitality while creating an atmosphere for worship.

Meeting Time: 3rd & 4 Mondays (6:30 pm)

YOUTH CHOIR

This ministry is designed for youth to magnify God through their singing. To participate in this ministry one must be a member between the 8 to 18 years old, and have an eagerness to inspire and enhance relationships with Jesus Christ through music. Every member must attend 3 practices, before becoming an official member.

Meeting time: 1st – 3rd Mondays (7:30 pm)

 

MINISTRY TEAM

ATHLETIC MINISTRY

This ministry is for all members who wish to participate in sports activity. The ministry is broken down in two age groups, children under 18 and adults. The goal of this ministry is to provide a variety of opportunities for all congregants to participate in recreational activities and develop a team mentality.

Meeting Times: Basketball: Tuesdays (7:00 pm)

BOOSTER MINISTRY

The purpose of this ministry is to seek and provide additional financial support for the ministry of the Mount Zion. The Boosters are open to any disciple of Mount Zion that is gifted and interested in implementing creative ways of raising funds for greater ministry.

CULINARY ARTS MINISTRY

This ministry is for any member that wants to utilize their gift of hospitality and/or catering skills within the church. This ministry designed to provide catering support for all church activities & events as well as manage the Kitchen and food prep area.

DEACON MINISTRY

This ministry is one of two official offices mentioned in the bible. Deacons are to minister to the congregation as the Pastor's representatives in matters that will further the growth of the individual member and the corporate body. They are to attend to the needs of the members of the church, as related to the spiritual and the temporal needs that may arise. Members are appointed by the Senior Pastor.

Meeting Times: 4th Tuesdays (6:30 pm)

DEACONESS MINISTRY

Deaconess are to minister to the congregation along side their husbands in matters that will further the growth of the individual member and the corporate body. They are to attend to the needs of the members of the church, as related to the spiritual and the temporal needs that may arise. Members are appointed by the Senior Pastor.

GREETERS MINISTRY

This ministry is designed to create a friendly and hospital atmosphere. The goal(s) of this ministry is to ensure that every visitor and member that attends major events including Sunday Morning Worship Service is greeted with Jesus joy and provided and assistance needed. Participants should be members who are willing to serve God’s people with a spirit of hospitality while creating an atmosphere for love.

HEALTH UNIT MINISTRY

This ministry is has a two-fold purpose; to meet minor medical needs of persons who are on the church premises during worship services and events and to promote health and wellness, particularly work to decrease racial and ethnic disparities within health care, in the congregation and the surrounding community.

Meeting Times: 2nd Sundays (12:30 pm)

NURSERY MINISTRY

This ministry provides a safe, Christian and loving environment for children Three (3) – Six (6) years of age during our Sunday Morning Worship in the Rose Swain Nursery.

Meeting Times: Sundays (9:45 am)

PASTOR’S SUPPORT MINISTRY

The purpose of this ministry is to meet the needs of the Pastor as the under-shepherd of the church by providing moral, spiritual and financial support to the pastor and first lady. The members of the ministry are assigned to take responsibility for providing various items and supplies for the pastor to accommodate his office and the pulpit. The ministry also spearheads the church in celebrating the pastor's anniversary, birthday, and other special occasions.

TRANSPORTATION MINISTRY

This ministry is serves people who need transportation to church services and live within the city of St. Louis and Vicinity. The goal of the ministry is to provide transportation for those who are in need.

TRUSTEE MINISTRY

This Ministry manages the church possessions and oversees the financial matters of the church. The church’s physical property, financial obligations and all other assets are the responsibility of the Trustee Ministry. The Trustees provide direction, leadership, facilities, processes, capability and capacity to help further God’s word. The Membership is appointed by the Senior Pastor and approved by the Trustee Ministry.
